MRV’s Console Server Presence of the IR-5100/5150 products also offer modular power solutions for remote enterprise sites.
The solution provides for remote current monitoring and AC power control of equipment at remote facilities. With the IR-5100/5150 series, administrators have the ability to remotely power cycle a locked up server, bring a redundant system online or turn on an auxiliary air conditioner from anywhere. AC current utilization can also be monitored to better
understand power consumption and provide visibility for capacity planning needs.

IR-5150 Remote Power Control
Remote Power Control enables remote reboot procedures of servers and internetworking devices via TCP/IP, out-of-band or serial access. Equipment installed within the Internet Data Center in relay racks or equipment cabinets may be network equipment units such as a routers and switches, or mission critical servers. Regardless of the combination and configuration of the equipment in the rack, all this equipment has a common characteristic: all this equipment runs via an operating system. Software-based Operating Systems do encounter systems failures and will lock-up. The first and most proven problem recovery step is to perform a power-cycle reboot.
The communication interfaces to the IR-5150 Series (Telnet, SSH, SNMP or HTML via the In-Reach console servers) allows a network or systems administrator to immediately reboot an inoperative server or router.
Additionally, using the IR-5150 Series, a network or systems administrator can perform essential operations to remote equipment: power on/ off individual equipment units, reboot a locked-up device or reboot an entire rack in sequential order for regular maintenance. The recovery to a locked-up device is fast and effective and eliminates the need to dispatch a field technician for manual intervention.
The network operation benefits are significant. For the Data Center, benefits include increased SLAs and eliminating the need to dispatch engineers to an on-site location. For the Data Center customer, benefits include minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity and revenues.

The In-Reach 5150 Remote Power Control Series provides system administrators and operators with the ability to remotely power cycle AC equipment or bring redundant systems online. The IR-5150 Power Control Series is designed to be controlled by any of the IR-8000/9000 or the LX Series products, offering IT managers the opportunity to maximize previous investments as well as taking full advantage of industry leading remote presence capabilities including remote console, alarm, sensor and power control (CASP). Only the In-Reach family combines all of these powerful features in a series of scaleable and upgradeable combinations.

The IR-5150 ’s remote management capability provides the benefit of offering remote reboot (on/off power cycling) of network and facility devices, naming of outlets for ease of use, and the robust security capabilities of the In-Reach series products, including per-port multi-level password protection, RADIUS, SecurID and Secure Shell. It is also manageable using existing SNMP platforms as well as the MRV Communications’ MegaVision and Event Horizon for MegaVison.

Application and Benefit
In-Reach's 5150 Remote Power Control Series of products complements the In-Reach products and completes the approach for true remote presence management of lights-out facilities or in-house data centers. The series leverages the investment of In-Reach remote serial and console access products by integrating remote power control management. Each of the 5150 Series Remote Power Control power outlets can be individually managed (Power On/Off or Remote Reboot). In addition, power outlets can be logically grouped and controlled by one command. Key benefits include Input Current Monitoring and Power-Up Sequencing, features to prevent overloads and improve power planning and forecasting.
